Hello together: I try to use Shared Movie. I tested so: 1 user, State=Ready(Initial),and I pressed Load Movie Button and selected a 15 minutes film. We know that before being able to reproduce it, it is stored in local disk. #This call function is in LoadMovieFile: self.datastore.Download(file, local) When went a minute, the programm stop downloading. Why? Who breaks the connection, Application Servisce in the Venue Server , or the Client Apploication in Local user? Thomas D. Uram, Thank u for ur answer very much. i have solve this problem. At the beginning,i start the VenueServer with the root account, and the problem appeared, Later,i alter to start the VenueServer withe a no-root account, the problem didn'st appeared again. Hello: The problem is that the subject identified by the certificate used to run the bridge server is not authorized to call the GetVenues method on the venue server. Using VenueManagement, you can grant access to this method to the subject identifed in the bridge certificate, either by: - adding that subject to the Administrators role, or - by creating a new role (for example, Bridge), adding the subject to that role, and allowing that role to call GetVenues These detail should be more clear if you open the VenueManagement interface. The separation is probably most clean on OSX, so you should have no problems. AG3 and AG2.4 on OSX

Just planning on testing the AG3 beta on our production AG2.4 machines and wanted to make sure AG3 and AG2.4 are able to co-exist on the same machine on OSX. I know they can on Windows and Linux (using the 2.4 compat rpms) - but haven't heard definitively on OSX. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks, Todd

To further the investigation, I have found that AGVCR doesn't actually crash or hang at all, at least not in of itself. By enabling the telnet mode, I was able to telnet to it even though the window was 'not responding'. It was still receiving and recording to disk just fine. Issuing a command 'help' actually got things 'unstuck' on the GUI side, so that may be a work around until I can track down what's happening. It seems to be again something to do with the GTK stuff though and not actually anything with the underlying AGVCR operations themselves. This may have been why upgrading GTK made some slight difference to the frequency of the apparent 'hangs'. An update to AGVCR Launcher (0.4) allows you to enable the 'remote control' mode from the Venue Client. http://iri.informatics.indiana.edu/~dcpiper/agvcr/ If anyone has had anything similar happen with GTK apps, let me know. Client heartbeat expires

Hi everybody, We are doing some tests with a new venue server. The problem is that the client disconnects from the venue (it connects at first instance, but it gets disconnected after some seconds). I can see on the log that the heartbeat expires. Can anyone explain how the heartbeat mechanism works? I think the client sends some packets through port 8002 (events port), tcp. Is that right?. Heh... good question. I kinda just threw that comment out there just to get an idea of what Argonne sees as the future of bridging and static ports. Currently we at WestGrid (and it appears many users/venueserver operators) are finding ways to statically assign ports for specific bridged venues to allow users to request extremely narrow port openings from their network administrators. In our experience, network admins are still reluctant to open even a multi-hundred block of ports to the entire network. I guess my question would be, is there any way for a bridge admin to specify a port range for a specific venue within the AG3 infrastructure? Right now I'm running an AG3 bridge and it apparently doesn't require a config file - can I still specify a config file with venue/port specifications etc? Hi Claus, Thanks for those patches, I appreciate you looking into it. I would prefer though that patches go to me directly instead of posting them on the AG tech list. For example, you supplied a patch for agvcr-rtp-lookup.c but not anything corresponding in rtp.h for the values of RTP_PAYLOAD_MPEG4 etc. I don't want people to read this list, get confused and start patching wildly without understanding what's really going on. So, thanks, but in future can you email me first?
