I'm not sure I've seen this issue although it somewhat rings a bell. The real point though is that we shouldn't have to use the OSS driver at all. I totally agree that the OSS driver is much better quality - but the fact that it will not share with other applications makes it very frustrating to use. IMO, what we need to solve is not the disappearing OSS device - its the ALSA quality issue. Just my 0.02 ;-) Todd

G'day Monika There are a number of ways to "force" the use of an input device. Basically there is a .RATdefaults file within your home directory that sets the "audioInputPort". Example: *audioInputPort: Microphone The easiest way to configure this, is to set the input device in rat and then "quit" manually, as it will save the settings to this file. You could then disable, then re-enable the audio using the "Enable/disable audio" button on the Venue Client. Hopefully the input device should now be configured correctly... Note, due to the way the AG shuts down Rat, it doesn't actually save your setting, so every time you changed venues, it would set the input device back to it's default. I hope this clarifies the issue you are having. G'day Ben The issue that I mentioned is in regards to OSS, you shouldn't see the problem with ALSA. I am surprised that you are using ALSA, as the audio quality is significantly better using OSS. I have never experienced the issue of the device not being present straight away (which should always be the case). But I am pretty sure there are no special scripts or anything like that which would delay you from seeing the device. AGSchedule site time zone setting

Hello, For those in the US, please make sure your site has the correct time zone setting. For example, NCSA is in the Central Time Zone. The time zone selection list has "Central" and "Central2007". The "Central2007" uses the new rules for Daylight Saving Time in the US. There are similar options for Eastern, Mountain and Pacific. Please make sure your site has the proper time zone selected as this is the time zone used by all users when they are logged in. Hello Lassi, I am experiencing the same problem. Both windows and linux nodes (3.1 beta 1&2) that have reconnected to the venue server since yesterday are not able to view or send text. The error I receive is "You have to be connected to a venue to send a text message." This happens in the Argonne lobby and the Rochester Institute of Technology venues.
