Dear Gurcharan, Yes, you can simply modify ExtendedVideoProducerService for on-demand content streaming. If one wants to deliver a video file on local host, one can change the executable parameters of VLC and put specific items such as the file name in ExtendedVideoProducerService. (refer to VLC command line interface: http://www.videolan.org/doc/vlc-user-guide/en/index.html) I believe that this is a good way for providing cumstomizable video producer services. I additionally explain the way of session announcement of ExtendedVideo{Producer, Consumer}Services for live streaming in PS #1. If you need this, please refer to it. Best regards, SangWoo PS #1) To announce video stream (to be used in a Venue), ExtendedVideoProducerService uses a combination of SDP (session description protocol) and SAP (session announcement protocol). SDP message specify a multicast address for video delivery (to be assigned by a Venue) and a video fromat (e.g. DV or HDV). Hi Doug, Thanks for the updated vic, unfortunately the behaviour still looks the same; seg fault with v4l2 and green video with v4l. My coworker has a virtual machine where the video works, so I've probably just got a setting off somewhere. hi, i know that the AGDV extendedvideoservice can listen to a multicast stream expecting a HDV format and that the producer generates such a stream. i was wondering if the producer service could instead call for an rtsp stream for a video on demand file to be sent to the venue. is this doable in the current code? or are there better ways to inject streaming video into a Venue? thanks, -gurcharan -- ------------------------- Gurcharan S. Hi Gurcharan, I don't have first hand experience with anything other than the Intensity (HDMI) and Intensity Pro (HDMI and analog component). I'm pretty certain some additional work will be required for VIC to properly support the Blackmagic Linux driver. I think VIC's V4L & V4L2 grabber code will drop the resolution down to 480i/480p (or 576i/576p) for "large" capture, there may also be a need to support whatever pixelformat the Blackmagic Linux driver uses. We have used a video scaler box to take the VGA out of a laptop and feed it into the BlackMagic card so the HDvic could be used to transmit the presenter's desktop. that worked well for up to about 20 fps or less. Venue Server not starting fully

Hi When restarting the Venue server, it runs and works, but nothing gets logged in the log files (I need data from ServerUsage.csv) after it starts up. Hi Jon, With kernel 2.6.27 and later, VIC needs to built with the libv4l package, as the proprietary pixelformat support for that webcam has be moved from the kernel driver to the userspace libv4l package (which now does the conversion to more common pixelformats). Chris has rebuilt the Ubuntu AG VIC package with a dependency on the libv4l package, try updating the VIC package and see if it fixes your issue.
