Hi Mike, I am afraid that we have not made any more progress on the smartboard side of things. Still of interest, but fallen off our radar as something that is urgent, and therefore hasn't been developed any further. We have users that use the smartboards in collaboration, but the sharing is typically done through our SharedVNC tool sharing the desktop that has the smartboard controlling it... We would be interested in any work being done in this area... Thank you as always Thomas. I'm trying AGtk 3 beta just for testing it in preview of a migration to 3.1 when ready. As far as now I was just trying to understand if the problem I'm having with setting up permissions for the venues with the 3 beta venueserver was just a problem of mine or "known bug"... thanx again Faber B. Thomas: I found and deleted/re-created many times both the venueserver.dat and .cfg file. I still have the same trouble: the VenueManagementTool doesn't allow me to add roles or personsl. The only existent role is "RegisteredPeople", it's empty and (as mentionned before) I cannot add any person to it nor create other roles. How can I address this problem? Fabrizio: This issue was addressed in other mail on the list. Have you resolved it? AG3 will use the VenueServer.cfg and VenueServer.dat files in the current directory; if those files are from AG2, they will still be used. You can avoid this by starting from a different directory, or by moving these files to another directory. If you have any more trouble, please do let me know. Hey Chris, Yes, we use the Biamp Audiaflex for our theatre and it seems to work well. Best feature is the configurability. It has a GUI front end that allows you to 'drag and drop' components right into the signal path. So, for any input, you can drag components such as an eq, gain, gate, compressor, leveler etc etc - plus any combination of mixers (matrix or combiners, etc). VERY configurable. With our theatre we have easily lots of inputs/outputs that we run through a hardware switch then into the Audia and this system handles it all very well. On the down side - the one critical issue we have experienced is a signal 'propagation delay'. By adding more and more components on to the signal path, you increase the signal propagation time through the unit. Plus, when you use echo cancellation in the signal path, it introduces a 20ms delay into the system on its own. Currently, our delay seems to be about 25-30ms, and while this mostly unnoticeable and doesn't cause many (any?) problems for the remote sites - when we take a feed of the mics for local reinforcement to the local speakers, it is quite noticeable and distracting. This is especially true for the speaker's themselves - with the delay being quite distracting. We have, however, come up with a work around to this issue. Our mics are all wireless and go through a single (multi module) wireless receiver unit - and this unit has a 'mic mix out' which can be set to line level. So I've taken a separate line level mix of all the mics and fed that _also_ into the Audiaflex (into on of the Line Level inputs - bypassing the Echo Reference Input and thus the majority of the delay). Works Great. All in all I'd say it does a pretty good job and is nicely configurable. One other note - I've called their support line twice - and both times was on the line with a _knowledgeable_ human within a minute or two. Very helpful. Actually, I had the same issue trying to build from cvs on RHEL 4. GenerateInterfaces.py was trying to run wsdl2py.py - but the python file that zsi produced and put on my path was /usr/bin/wsdl2py (note - no .py extension). I removed the .py extensions from the w2pyExec and w2dExec variables in GenerateInterfaces.py and all was better. Not sure why the difference but that solved the problem. Cheers, Todd Thomas D. G'day Drew If I could make a suggestion, I would suggest placing the soundcard / audio capabilities in the display machine, rather than the video capture machine. That way the users can make adjustments to the audio, ie, increase someone's sound without having to switch to the video capture machine. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the SB Audigy, but I have personally experienced problems with the Creative Live Sound Cards when running Fedora Core 4. Personally, I just use the onboard sound card and it does the job perfectly. Hope this helps.
