Hi all,
As agreed in the Sessions WG call today, we will begin to work on MPI Standard text for the new API functions that permit creation of Communicators, Windows, and Files without supplying a parent Communicator.
For this purpose, I have just created 3 branches in the WG fork of MPI on Github:
https://github.com/mpiwg-sessions/mpi-standard/branches
Howard is leading the effort to write text for new Communicator creation functions using the “…Comm…” branch:
https://github.com/mpiwg-sessions/mpi-standard/tree/CreateCommFromGroup-NoP…
I am leading the effort to write text for new Window creation functions using the “…Win…” branch:
https://github.com/mpiwg-sessions/mpi-standard/tree/CreateWinFromGroup-NoPa…
There will be a third effort to write text for new File creation functions using the “…File…” branch:
https://github.com/mpiwg-sessions/mpi-standard/tree/CreateFileFromGroup-NoP…
We anticipate having a progress meeting next week during our normal WG time-slot and we are hoping to get a preliminary draft ready for 2 weeks’ time.
We will move on to writing text for the core Sessions proposal after these three are in reasonable shape. The intent is to have something to present, and maybe even to read, by the next face-to-face MPI Forum meeting at Austin, TX in June.
Cheers,
Dan.
