[JLSE-Admins] Installing Python-dev on Thing Nodes

Hello, I am a summer student working at Argonne National Laboratory in the Mathematics and Computer Science division. For the research I am working on, I need to run OpenMOC <https://mit-crpg.github.io/OpenMOC/> on the JLSE Haswell nodes which is a based in C++ but uses a SWIG python wrapper. It has a few pre-requisites in order to install correctly (see ubuntu requirements <https://mit-crpg.github.io/OpenMOC/usersguide/ubuntu_prerequisites.html#ubu…>). I know that the JLSE nodes do not run Ubuntu, but the requirements should be similar. In particular, OpenMOC needs to have communication between python and C++. In order to do this properly, it needs access to the Python.h file which is included in the python-dev installation package (I believe python-devel for Red Hat). It seems that none of the thing nodes have python-dev installed. Would it be possible to have python-dev / python-devel installed? Best regards, Geoff Gunow

Hello, Alex (cc’ed) tried to apply for the JLSE account, but he couldn’t log in at https://accounts.jlse.anl.gov/index.php?tpl=request_identity.tpl using his ANL account. Although he can log in to other ANL website, e.g., inside or mail, he sees the error message, “Unable to authenticate your ANL username and password” when he tries to use it at the “Request New Account” on the JLSE website.
