I think qemu-img has a compact function, but I haven't tried it up to
this point. I'll have another look at it before the next build.

I'm mainly concerned with functionality of the client libraries in the
image on any one platform.
I've already run this in virtualbox on osx, with no issues. As long as
virtualbox, vmware player, and kvm are covered I think we've hit 90%.
