We could give the project 150K and have the committee weigh in for the remainder. Larry would be a better PI Category 3 & Material Sc.
Thanks. Creating this project now. John

Do we approve this project? (I've corrected the numbers below, which were off by 1 order of magnitude.) He's asking for just under 500K; 200K for the 1st and 2nd quarters, 90K for the 3rd, and 5K for the 4th. If we approve, I need to know:
1) How much for the current quarter (150K?): 2) Point of Contact (Larry or Al?): 3) Priority (3?): 4) Category:Subcategory (P:Mat Sci?):

Hello,
A new project on the LCRC cluster has been requested. Please forward the information on to the LCRC Allocation sub-committee.
Applicant's name: Vivek Mishra Applicant's institution: ANL Applicant's division: MSD Project Name: DW_SC Project title: Competing orders in unconventional superconductors Associated funding: Center for Emergent Superconductivity, an Energy Frontier Research Center funded by the US DOE, Office of Science. Other Systems: none Science: This project uses many body methods to calculate the order parameters associated with different orders. Many physical properties are calculated for understanding the experimental data on the cuprates and the iron pnictide based superconductors. Project description: We use model Hamiltonians to study the competing phases in the underdoped cuprates and iron pnictides. We intend to study these phases by solving full numerical equations based on many body methods. These results will also check the validity of the approximations made to solve some of these problems analytically. Algorithms to solve these microscopic equations involve many different numerical techniques, including large scale matrix algebra, non-linear system of equation and differential equations.

The requester has used undetermined amount hours of their initial startup project.
In addition to approving an initial amount, please specify a Category and Subcategory for this project. For a list of the current selection of approved categories, please see:
