Hello, A new project on the LCRC cluster has been requested. Please forward the information on to the LCRC Allocation sub-committee. Applicant's name: Sergei Chekanov Applicant's institution: ANL Applicant's division: HEP Project Name: ATLAS-HEP-group Project title: Data analysis of the LHC data by the ATLAS/HEP group Associated funding: HEP/DOE Other Systems: none Science: This project is a part of the migration of the HEP/ANL division cluster to the LCRC resources. This project is designed for analysis of data from the LHC experiment (ATLAS international collaboration). All members of the ATLAS/HEP group will use this project allocation to analyze LHC data and publish their results (internal ATLAS notes, conference papers and papers in journals). Project description: computational methods: data analysis programming model: readings and analyzing data scalability issues: depend on IO throughput. A typical single job uses 3MB/s. The number of jobs will depend on the network and many other factors experiments planned: ATLAS LHC experiment: https://home.cern/about/experiments/atlas software requirements: gcc49, ROOT, boost etc. technical details: processing data using software developed by the ATLAS collaboration.
