Time-sharing works. I tend to work late night or holiday/weekend, so type-1 users can use the machine daytime. Of course, the machine is not share-able. while I'm using due to frequent rebooting.

The related projects are CESAR, Argo and COOLR (newly founded. Pete is PI. I'm co-PI).

I have no idea about JLSE budget. 8-socket is preferable but I guess very expensive. 4-socket is minimum. probably Dell PowerEdge or IBM X series. I haven't narrowed down real hardware config yet.

Does this sound reasonable?
