3. Evaluation of Linux Containers (LXC) using CoreOS and Docker for HPC Infrastructure - Matt Kemp - Repurposed 5x Eureka nodes
Matt, could you please provide a description of your project to Ginny Doyle (ccd) for inclusion on our webpage. Please see this page for examples:
My description is as follows: Investigating HPC Infrastructure and User Service Provisioning through Linux Containers (LXC) PI: Matt Kemp and Ben Allen Objective: Investigating the advantages of infrastructure and user service provisioning using the isolation and repeatability available via Linux Containers (LXC) in an HPC environment. This makes use of CoreOS and Docker to create a clustered environment for maintainable service provisioning, maintenance and delivery. The testbed will also investigate clustered management solutions for these containers, evaluating etcd, Fleet and Google's Kubernetes. Testbed description: JLSE's x86 hardware and dedicated networking provides an isolated, private network between a RHEL7 based head node and 4 private CoreOS hosts where new infrastructure technologies can be tested. The GPFS filesystems and unique networking provide a platform to integrate HPC technologies into cloud based containerization software. --- Matt Kemp HPC Systems Administrator Argonne National Laboratory Leadership Computing Facility Phone: (630) 252-0024
