where do we stand with our public release notices and products?
I'm ready to do my parts (see forwarded message) when the other things are done. I guess I can start writing the release announcement. However, I have to prepare slides for Adam's talk (due Tues), finish a report about BOSC (due today), and I have meetings all day Mon, so I might have to do that on Tues or Wed. Note that I will be away Aug 24-29 (and mostly tied up on Aug 23, including the evening), so hopefully we can get the release finished and announced before i leave. By the way, the things I listed under Services page (http://www.kbase.us/developer-zone/services/) as jobs for Tom Brown, I'll just do them myself, it'll be faster. Maybe Tom Brown can do them next time. Nomi Begin forwarded message:

Some thoughts about finishing this release.
First, what are the new services and are there any old services that we're no longer offering? New: expression functional_ortholog_predictor Any others??
Renamed: aux_store -> shock_service Is this description still ok? "Command line client tools for accessing the KBase auxiliary store"
Deleted: Were any services deleted/retired?
Here are the things that need to happen (that I'm involved with on some level--obviously this is not the complete list) to finish the release: Downloads page: - Push new dmg and ubuntu image to http://kbase.us/developer-zone/downloads/ (Tom Brown, with help from Neal?) - Push new type compiler tar file to downloads (Tom Brown, with help from Neal?) - Move info for previous releases down to "Older Releases" section (Tom Brown)
API docs: - Push new and updated API docs to kbase.us (Tom Brown, with help from Neal?) - Add new API docs to http://kbase.us/developer-zone/api-documentation/ (note that this page is going to be reorganized soon--the command-line docs are going to move to a different page, and I'm hoping we can come up with a better sort order for the services--even alphabetical would be better than random!) (Tom Brown, with help from Nomi)
Release notes: - Push new and updated release notes to kbase.us (Tom Brown, with help from Neal?)
Services page (http://www.kbase.us/developer-zone/services/): - Add new services, including descriptions and links (Tom Brown, with help from Nomi) - Add links to release notes to all services that have release notes (Tom Brown) - Add any new links to API docs (Tom Brown, with help from Neal?)
Announcement: - Write release announcement, send to pr-approval (Nomi) [Note to self: if there are big improvements to IRIS or other Labs, mention them in the announcement.] - Post announcement to blog (Nomi)

In an ideal world, if we had the person-time available, then sure. As it is, I'm not sure who would take on the other responsibilities of the people who are working on releases AND other things (e.g., Dan, Shane, Mike). (I view Miriam as already fully committed to the release team--thank goodness for that!) Nomi

I'm beginning to think that the release team should be a team dedicated to releases.
Thoughts anyone?

Here are my issue modules:
Assembly - developers claims that fixes have been made but these have not been retested. Auth client and service - Not passing testing Communities_api - minor problems with 3 commands (in scripts but not in deployment). Mostly okay as is. FBA modeling - failing due to workspace deployment problems Functional ortholog predictor - COMMANDS file has been added since testing but the command returns a non-zero value ID Server - Issues with the command-line commands have been fixed since testing. Needs new tag before deployment Probabilistic Annotation - still failing testing Communities QC - still failing testing SHOCK - never passed deployment - hence never tested

Ok.. I primarily wanted to make go over the outstanding issues. The cleared for production column is fairly empty.
Nomi, when you get back, can you have a look. I think some may have been waiting on API doc checks?
