I'd like to perform some tests with the mac deployment process. Is there a disk image or other environment where I can test the mac deployment process? Or perhaps instructions on how mac DMGs are built? Or is it still a manual process?

I noticed some scripts in dev_container_tools/scripts that look like they could help, but I'm not sure what state they are in or how to use them. It also appears that they just package the DMG, but don't actually run the usual deployment steps using make- is this correct?
