Sorry; I got detained today. When webex launches, it asks you for your phone number (and gives you the option to connect from your computer's audio, instead of a phone number). Perhaps that window got put behind the main webex window. Alternatively, there's a dialin number if you don't want to connect to the java stuff at all: +1-866-432-9903 Meeting ID: 206095536 On Jan 13, 2014, at 12:14 PM, Steven Oyanagi <[email protected]> wrote:
Hi Jeff,
Krishna and I are connected via webex, but we can't figure out how to bring up the audio portion. We have a requester up that wants a phone number, or we can dial in. We could dial in, but we don't know what number to dial.
Hmmm.... are we suppose to feed it a phone number? I thought webex did everything.
Thanks, - Steve

we should probably sync up and decide what tickets we want in 3.1, assuming that things not read next meeting will not make it.

In case people are not sold on hangouts, consider this:

We can all pretend that it isn't us that will be auto-muted :-)

I’ve used both webex and GH. Let’s try webex again. If things don’t work well again, we can reconsider.

If you have bootstrap problems w/ webex again on Monday, let's switch to GH (have you used those before / done the bootstrapping there?).

Ok, let’s just go with webex then.

I would imagine most of us have used webex and GH before, hence no bootstrap is required.
I'm fine with webex, too, since like GH, it's not a phone. I was just working within Pavan's preferences.

Yes, that’s the plan. We have a bunch of changes for the March meeting, so I’d rather not skip it.
Also, can we do telecon instead of webex (and add webex/google hangout later if we need to share docs)?
Is it really easier?
My personal experience is:
1. webex tends to "just work" more than Google hangouts. 2. both have "first time bootstrap" issues, but webex tends to be quicker
Honestly, I'm not trying to promote my own company's tool; it certainly has its own shortcomings. It's just been my experience that webex tends to work easier for a larger group of people than google hangouts.
As for phones -- Webex has a "use your computer mic/speaker/video" option right on the connection screen.
