Re: [MPIWG Fortran] Question about an argument of MPI_Testall
For MPI-3.0 there was a ticket for new Fortran and optional status versus MPI_STATUS(ES)_IGNORE with all pros and cons resulting in a clear "not optional" straw vote from the forum. Rolf ----- Original Message -----

Rolf R. just reminded me off-list what the real reason is: MPI_STATUSES_IGNORE.
Yes, that makes sense.
Should this be an optional argument in that case, and eliminate MPI_STATUS_IGNORE and MPI_STATUSES_IGNORE, as was done for the C++ interface?
In my view, yes. I regret the demise of the C++ interface, as I found it cleaner, and this was one of those aspects.
I am not disagreeing with Bill's points, of course - this is a value judgement.
