Re: [Mpi-forum] Portland Location
Trimet is also a good (clean but not exceptionally fast, except relative to heavy traffic) way to get from PDX to downtown, should people want to avoid driving altogether. When you exist the terminal, just turn right and go all the way down to the station. Jeff On Sat, Jan 10, 2015 at 8:45 AM, Fab Tillier <[email protected]> wrote:
The Marriott City Center will offer the gov’t rate. It’s a bit further (still walkable), but the streetcar will drop you off kitty-corner from the building and should be close to any of the city center hotels. You can get a pack of 5 1-day passes for $25 here: http://store.trimet.org/view_cart.asp?catid=8

I think most of the government rate hotels are going to be either next to the conference center or further south toward the city center. I've got a govt rate room in the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower.

That's the best they could give me, and is in line with historical costs for the conference hotel. I don't know what the gov't rate is, isn't that what you'd get? Anyway, if you find something better, please let us know.

FYI, the group rate of 179$ is way above the DOE max lodging costs (137$). I'd expect most DOE folks to not be able to use this.

Hi Folks,
Here's the link for the hotel room block. They only gave me the exact dates, I'm working with them to extend that a day before/after. I believe if you book by phone they can extend the stay, just not via the URL.

You can also search for rooms using the MPIMPIA group code, but again it only works for the 2nd through 5th.
Will update everyone if I succeed in expanding the date range.
