Re: [Mpi-forum] MPI Forum Dates for 2018
Intel has a site in Santa Clara that is no less accessible than Cisco, but I don't know what sort of public conference space we have there. I prefer Microsoft Portland to any other west coast site, and not just because it's closer to my house than my office :-) Jeff On Thu, Jul 13, 2017 at 8:46 AM, Bland, Wesley <[email protected]> wrote:
Intel is willing to host if our usual partners can't. We'll have the usual issues of not being in major hubs (Portland, Austin, Boston) and requiring cars to get to meetings/hotels though.

Hi all,
We need to decide on the MPI Forum dates and locations for next year. For the US dates (assuming we stick with the usual rotation), the following dates would fit our normal rhythm:
Spring: 2/26 to 3/1 Summer: 6/4 to 6/7 Winter: 12/3 to 12/6
From what I can see, this stays clear of most typical major conflicts - please take a look at the dates an let me know if there are any other conflicts that I have missed. Also, please let me know if you/your organization is willing to host one of the meetings.
As for the Fall meeting, the goal is to have the MPI Forum along with EuroMPI, which will be in Barcelona/Spain and the current plan is to (for the first time) coordinate with the OpenMP community (i.e., their user meeting OpenMPCon, their academic workshop Iwomp and their standardization face to face meeting). In particular, the following dates are currently proposed:
- 9/20-9/22 (Thu-Sat) - 9/23 (Sun) EuroMPI Workshops - 9/24-9/26 (Mon-Wed) EuroMPI and OpenMPCon - 9/27-9/28 (Thu-Fri) Iwomp - 10/1 to 10/5 (Mon-Fri) OpenMP standardization meeting
For MPI alone, this is similar to our usual schedule, but it allows everyone to also attend the OpenMP events, if they would like to.
Any comments on this or alternate suggestions?
Thanks!
Martin
