For those not at the Forum this week, later this week there is supposed to be a web-site up for people who are not attending EuroMPI to make hotel reservations. We are trying to see if we can extend the deadline for reservations, given that the site is not up yet. The issue is that we are not guaranteeing a minimum number of rooms, so the hotels are not willing to hold a block open for very long. Thanks. Is there a way to do what I want: skip EuroMPI, go straight for the MPI Forum, and still have a hotel booked at the Forum rate? If no, I’ll just book some hotel at a general rate.

There is no MPI Forum registration page setup yet - the registration page listed is that of the EuroMPI conference. The organizers are helping us by extending the registration through the conference housing page.

With the short fuse to commit to housing, things are evolving over time. Here is the current understanding of the situation:

- If you want to benefit from our group rate, it must be done through registration for the MPI Forum. There does not appear to be another way to do this.

- There are two hotels that will be available: New Haroula Hotel (currently available) and Daedalus Hotel (should be available “soon”)

- Cutoff date for these is 7/20/2011

We could reserve a block of rooms with a later expiration date, but this would involve committing funds to this. Given that this will be a very expensive meeting, we are not going to commit to hotel rooms.
