I am as much in favor of keeping the cost down as anybody, but this ground gets covered at every single meeting. From memory, the major points are: -Some meetings are cheap, others are expensive. International ones are sometimes (not always) ridiculously expensive. -The forum has, in the past, lost money by committing to a room block that didn't get fulfilled. Usually, committing a room block is necessary to get free space. Thankfully, we have industry sponsors for the space in the US right now. -You may, or may not, think that the support services who organized it did an insufficient job of negotiating. I am pretty sure that Rich has offered to let somebody else do the organizing, but NOBODY is quite THAT upset at the pricing. Keith

Can you publish the space rental and catering costs for each location in an itemized fashion? There are >25 attendees to the forum. I am curious how you're exceeding $5000 for three days for any location.
I'm organizing a conference (SAAHPC) at Argonne where we are paying literally nothing for the space for three days. My wife organizes events at the University of Chicago all the time and none of them cost more than $1000/day unless there are hundreds of people attending.

How come registration is $200 rather than the usual $125? �I remember the last meeting in Chicago was $200 because we had to book the Wild Fire restaurant for Wednesday, but we're doing the whole week at the Microsoft facilities, and all the previous such meetings were $125. �The meeting registration costs seem kind of arbitrary, and it would be nice if they weren't.

Dinner is not provided as part of registration - at this stage it is too late to add that. �The plan was to order pizzas, and have folks chip in, if people still want to go with pizza.
