Re: [Mpi-forum] November meeting
Where will the actual forum meeting occur? I cannot determine from this thread if it is at the Residence Inn or the Oregon Convention Center. Logistical complications may restrict where I can stay in Portland for MPI+SC09. http://meetings.mpi-forum.org/Nov_2009_logistics.php does not contain this information so if there is a better place to look, please let me know what it is. Thanks, Jeff On Mon, Sep 28, 2009 at 8:48 AM, Graham, Richard L. <[email protected]> wrote:
There is a room block that will be available Tuesday to Friday night the week of the MPI Forum. The procedure is changing a bit this time (I will send a note out to the entire list with details) so while we reserve the block of rooms, people are responsible for calling the hotel and actually getting a room out of the allocation. This will be available this coming Friday, 10/2. There was a change in how ORNL handles CC numbers (we don't anymore - they go straight to the CC company) and it has taken a while to iron out all the kincks ... Does this help ?

It looks like the Residence Inn by the Lloyd Center is sold out for the week of SC. Other hotels seem to be going fast (if you are planning on staying Sunday - Thursday night).
Do we have any updates on the room block? (I need to confirm that before I start booking flights).

We are making arrangements with the Residence Inn by the Lloyd Center in Portland (within walking distance of the convention center) for this meeting. The expectation is that for this particular meeting there will be a larger demand for rooms after the meeting (Friday and Sat nights), because of SC. We are trying to get an accurate count for such a block, so if you need a reservation on those nights please e-mail me (and not the mailing list) today, so we can ensure you get a room and sign a contract for the appropriate number of rooms. The rate is $120/night.
