I'm hoping to not have to use expect scripts or similar via a serial console over IPMI to edit the BIOS. Ideally something exposed via IPMI that could be set via "ipmitool raw" or similar.

I will check. It seems reasonable that you could change a BIOS setting via a script somehow & have it take effect on reboot. I know we do that with core count settings on some of our clusters.
