The objective of this project is to implement a parallized gamma shower simulation based on EGSnrc and simulated the energy deposition in the photon collimator. Project description: A photon collimator is very critical for polarized positron source for future linear collider. This photon collimator needs to be able to handle several tens of kW power from collimated photon beam. It would be even critical to know the detail of energy deposition profile so that a proper cooling can be implemented. Since the collimator needs to be able to stop and absorb the collimated photon beam as much as possible, the size of this device might be too big to be handled by a single PC. For the first phase of this project, we will implement a parallelized gamma shower simulation based on EGSnrc and do some initial simulation studies with simple geometry.
