Muehleisen Project Name: bldg_energy_modeling Division: ES Project title: Building Energy Modeling and Metamodeling. Associated funding: DOE Building Technologies Office Other Systems: Science: Creation of a pre-computed database of millions of building energy models for buildings of various types, sizes, vintages, and with different equipment. The database will be used to create a reduced order meta-model for more efficient computation of building energy use Project description: This project will create a set of prototypical city buildings and create a database of model outputs to a variety of varied inputs such as orientation, size, equipment type, envelope materials and properties, internal equipment energy densities, occupant densities, etc. The results will be created and put into a PostgreSQL database suitable for conversion/use with the DOE open source Standard Energy Efficiency Data (SEED) platform. The project will use DOE's EnergyPlus building energy model as the core simulation engine. EnergyPlus itself can utilize multiple cores and the simulation of each separate building can utilize different nodes so the creation of the database can effectively use batch processing on as many nodes as are available.
