A specific reason has been given:
I ran out of the current allocation. I have been running an OpenMP code that runs very efficiently on 16 cores - I need more runs of that code. Also, we are ramping up a project using a developer version of SIESTA/SMEAGOL that will need many more nodes/cores for pre-production runs before we move to BG/Q
