The DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) fellowship program has extended the online application deadline by two weeks, to May 20 at 5pm EDT. The lab host scientist letter of support (see below) has a similar extension for its upload deadline. The current SCGSR solicitation is for student internships starting between November 9, 2020 – March 1, 2021. SCGSR https://science.osti.gov/wdts/scgsr/ is a valuable program for university students to spend time at DOE labs working on projects related to their PhD thesis and DOE experiments, and gain lab training and access to lab expertise and facilities. HEP has had a very high success rate for applications. Lab host scientist letter of support: At initiation of the application process, the student provides contact information for the Collaborating DOE Laboratory Scientist (lab host). The online system then sends the lab host a request to upload a letter of support. The deadline extension means that lab hosts now have an extra two weeks to upload their letter of support.
