Discretionary Action Memo: Water-Related Research Projects — Due May 15

DISCRETIONARY ACTION   DUE: 5/15/20

May 6, 2020

TO:               Programmatic Division Directors and Department Heads

FROM:         Junhong Chen, Lead Water Strategist and Senior Scientist,
                      Physical Sciences and Engineering

SUBJECT:    Water-Related Research Projects

Water is one of the world’s most valuable resources, and modern challenges require advanced scientific and engineering solutions. Argonne has the opportunity to increase its leadership in this area. In this vein, we are developing a decadal water strategy to focus and grow the Lab’s collaborative efforts and impacts.

Researchers across Argonne’s directorates currently participate in a range of pioneering discovery and innovation that touches on water. Having a comprehensive list of water research taking place at the Lab will help Argonne develop a strategy that leverages Argonne’s strengths and identifies future needs and areas for collaboration. It also will help us communicate our water efforts and impacts more broadly to our stakeholder community.

Please send a list of all funded projects related to water with a brief description and point of contact for each project to water@anl.gov by Friday, May 15.

If you have questions, please contact me at water@anl.gov.
