FYI - we are handling SC19 approvals differently this year as they will be processed in a wave approach.
Wave 1.) Pre-approved = CLS Leadership, Divisional Leadership, Senior Managers/Leaders, Attendees working SC, etc. COMPLETED
Wave 2.) Accepted (based on accepted work) / Program Involvement (Chairs/Co-Chairs,etc.) = Researchers, Assistant Researchers, New Staff Employees, Tenured Postdocs, Administrative Staff, etc.
Wave 3.) For Consideration/last-minute accepted work = New Postdocs, First-time attendees, etc.
Wave 1 has been completed. If you are in Wave 1 (and you know who you are) continue on with your travel arrangements as normal.
Wave 2 is currently underway. For those interested in attending SC19, you are encouraged to enter your detailed justification into CAS ASAP. As of today there are 14 people in pending status.

This justification will be reviewed by CELS management and should justify the need to attend, so please try to be as detailed/accurate as possible with your justification, cost and funding
source.
Wave 2 review and approval will happen the week of September 9th, so you have two weeks to get your justification into CAS.
The Wave 3 process will be similar to Wave 2. Wave 3 will primarily be for those people that are waiting to hear whether or not their submissions are accepted and some last minute stragglers/etc.
Early-bird registration ends October 16th. I would estimate Wave 3 review and approval to take place in early October (prior to deadline).
Even if there is a slight chance/desire to attend SC, you are encouraged to submit your justification.
It is easier to handle once in the CAS system then a late add for whatever the reason as we will be held to a pre-determined specific # of attendees and total cost for the conference for the Lab.
