Friendly reminder: Pre-approval student requests are due by January 27^th.

In preparation of the 2021 Summer Student Program, please complete (for approval by Mike Papka) the Pre-Approval Student Request Form no later than COB, Wednesday, January 27, 2021. You will be notified by email the week of February 1^st if your request has been approved or denied.

Here is the new process for LCF:

Mentor completes and submits the Pre-Approval Student Request Form. {mentor will receive email notification of submission}
Tamra > collect and populate into a spreadsheet, submit to Finance and Mike Papka.
Finance and Mike Papka > review
Finance > forward to Tamra Lagerwall and requester “approved” with full project code or “disapproved”
If approved: Mentor to complete the full Student Request Form {mentor will receive email notification of submission}
Tamra to complete her process. If any additional paperwork is needed, she will send you an email.

Dear Mentors & Student Stakeholders,

We hope you had a wonderful holiday break and are looking forward to partnering with you for 2021 summer student appointments. This summer’s appointments will continue as a virtual appointment. Please plan your student projects accordingly. We will continue to share updates to the status of summer students as they become available to us.

As we are entering the selection period for Summer 2021 appointments, we wanted to remind you of the important dates for several of our seasonal programs DOE and non-DOE sponsored Programs.

DOE SPONSORED PROGRAMS

Program	Selection Process	Access	Please Note
SULI (Science Undergraduate Laboratory Experience)	First Round of the selection process is anticipated to open to mentors on *Monday, February 1, 2021 at 8am CST* We will notify you as soon as we know.	Log on to WDTS WARS to view applicants. If you need access, please request via your division’s HR Rep.	If you have already established a connection with an applicant, please let your HR Rep know by *Monday, January 25, 2021 at 5pm CST*
CCI (Community College Internship)
VFP (Visiting Faculty Program)

MSIPP (Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program)	Student applications are due by *Friday, January 29, 2021 at 5pm CST* Selection process is anticipated to open to mentors mid-February	You will receive an email from ORISE and from EDU when selection process open. Log on to existing Zintellect account to view applicants.	You have already submitted your projects to your HR Rep in December if you were interested in hosting a student in one of these programs.
EERE – Robotics or EERE – Energy Storage (Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy seasonal internships)

NON-DOE SPONSORED PROGRAMS

Program	Selection Process	Access	Please Note
SRP (Student Research Participation)	Student applications are due by *Monday, March 1, 2021 at 5pm CST* Selection will start immediately after March 1^st.	Log on to Registration Administration via Inside Argonne.	If you have hired for any positions using the student registration system, you already have access to review SRP applications.

Metcalf (UChicago seasonal internship)	Student applications are due by *Friday, February 19, 2021 at 5pm CST*	EDU will disseminate resumes to your division’s HR Rep the *week of February 22, 2021*

A targeted email for each of these programs will be sent as soon as the respective selection process opens to mentors. In that email, we will include specific considerations to keep in mind when selecting a student in that program.
