Hi Raj, Sure. Have them apply for accounts on https://accounts.jlse.anl.gov. If they’re foreign nationals they’ll have to go through the ANL-593 process. Also if they need privileged access, (i.e. sudo), we’ll have to issue them a one-time password (OTP) token, i.e. cryptocard. Incidentally, it looks like hyperthreading is currently turned on in the BIOS, so there are 16 logical cores showing up in /proc/cpuinfo. Would you prefer hyperthreading to be enabled or disabled?

They're on the standard ALCF public network; I don't know the details about what is between them and the ESnet 100G pipe, but I've Cc:ed Ed who should be able to provide something. It's possible that he already has a network diagram that would suffice. The test node would be in the same location on the public network as the production DTNs (using the same network ports that were previously used by dtn09-dtn12).

FYI, I believe you should be able to log in to tubes now. The 10G interfaces are xeth1, xeth3, xeth5, and xeth7, configured with IP addresses 140.221.68.237, 140.221.68.238, 140.221.68.239, and 140.221.68.240. I don't believe there's anything special in the config of these 10G interfaces aside from being configured with jumbo frames (MTU 9000). On all of these interfaces, port range 5900-5999 should be available for TCP and UDP traffic to/from your UofC hosts 192.170.230.50 and 192.170.230.51.

What details do you need on the node configuration?

Also, while currently nothing within Future Tech is covered under an NDA, we often have early access hardware and software that comes with certain restrictions. These will be announced via FT-Disucss when they’re installed.

Lastly, we’re in the middle of a transition to from ALCF Future Tech to ANL’s Joint Laboratory for Systems Evaluation (JLSE). You’ll see a request via ft-discuss in the coming weeks for you to create a “JLSE” account.
