I know why. On the new machine and build the PHP kerberos library didn't (and can't) get built. I'm working on getting the newer krb5 library built but some other high priority tasks came up last night so I've been derailed from getting it working. It sucks, but if he can send me his pubkey, I'll put it in place for him so he can get going.
